Stress, anxiety, depression, loneliness, eating troubles, feeling displaced or isolated and personal and professional relationship difficulties during intense times are all a normal part of life.
However, when these feelings become overwhelming or intolerable its time to talk with a well-trained professional and this is when I can help you.
My clinics are in Ponsonby and in Titirangi.
You can email me at margueritelaing@gmail.com or call (09) 814 9889. I have reasonable and negotiable fees.
I trained in the therapeutic/counselling fields for seventeen years in the UK, the United States and New Zealand. For ten of those years I worked alongside one of the most influential intellectuals of our time, the psychoanalyst and author of The Divided Self, Dr. R. D. Laing. My training began in London in 1979 which included Principles of Chinese medicine. It continued in the United States with family therapy and principles of Network Chiropractic. I have also practised & intermittently taught yoga since 1974.
I am presently completing a Masters Degree in Psychoanalytic Psychotherapy at AUT.
Therapeutic Conversations are medicine for your mind and for your heart. These conversations create intimacy with your internal experience. You will learn to cultivate choices in habitual ways of thinking and responding. It will become possible to maintain emotional equilibrium and resilience even under intense stress. Clarity, vigour and joy will be restored as well as healthy boundaries and self esteem as you connect with your own wisdom.
I usually employ short term a Solution Focussed, Narrative, Cognitive Behavioural, Psycho dynamic, Art, NLP or Psychoanalytic Psychotherapeutic approach depending upon presenting issues and how many sessions have been decided upon. Brandon Bay's Journeywork or light hypnosis are also options that you may find helpful.
My practice comprehends trauma, grief, anxiety and stress in all its forms. Particularly situational depression, occupational status or identity changes and adapation, life or career transition, migration and disaffected returnees. have a special interest in early emotional rupture and separation, eating and body image difficulties and post traumatic stress.
To help children through their difficulties, I will use (sand)play, art and NLP.
