What is Referral Marketing?

It is undoubtably the most cost effective way to grow your business. People who are wanting to buy services or goods do not want to deal with the telephone book or newspaper ad's. They would rather deal with someone who has been referred to them by someone they know and trust. This takes the risk out of the purchase/sale.

This is a form of marketing where you grow your client base by developing a referral marketing programme. This programme involves receiving more referrals from the following:

Clients - people who have already purchased from you and love what you do. Eg. Jane who just had a massage and really enjoyed her experience will refer her friends and family.

Referral Alliances - people you have a formal agreement with, who may or may not use your services/products, but you have chosen to refer business to one another. There are ways to increase the likelihood of receiving more referrals which I'll share in the next blog post. Eg. Maria who is a graphic designer and wants to refer her clients to you, a printer.

Referral Agents - people you have a formal agreement with to refer business that will never use your service. Eg. A business coach in Auckland, referring his clients that live in Wellington to you, a hairdresser based in Wellington.

Next Post... How to increase your client base by asking one question...

I run a referral marketing company exclusively for women. The Venus Clubs are the most cost effective way you can grow your business. Over the past year I have been on a steep learning curve both in terms of business and in terms of referral marketing. To stay in integrity with my company, I made the conscious choice to focus 90% of my marketing on word of mouth and personal reccomendations. It works! I will be sharing some of what I have learnt on here to help you grow your business.
